The Farm ~ Deliver the Apples

The kids and I headed up to the Farm on Sunday to drop off the apples.  They only  had a few animals.  2 Elk, 1 Deer and 3 bear.  And...of course, the farm animals!

Romeo (the goose) honked and honked the entire time we were there.  Mean old thing!

Apple Picking 2011

There were not a lot of apples this year so it was just the Strobels and Uncle Bierne out to pick apples!  We still had a good time and got a few boxes for Uncle Bud and Aunt Mary.

ROMEO

This is Romeo.  Romeo and I are not friends.  We never have been.  Bud & Mary are not sure just how old Romeo is, but I remember him from when I was a child.  He used to honk and honk at me, then chase me with his neck down.  Such a little booger.  For the past 5 years, we have been bringing a truckload of apples out to Bud & Mary every year and every year, Romeo follows me and squawks and squawks.  However, the last two years, he has decided that Rylee will be the one he decides to chase and squawk at.  Rylee is terrified of him.  I remember being terrified of him.  It makes me wonder if he is having flashbacks from 25 years ago and thinking, hey, there is that little girl I used to chase around and she would scream and scream...Oh Romeo, you silly goose!

The Farm 2010

After we finished picking apples, we headed up to the Vanderbilt Farm to bring the apples out!  They didn't have many wild anmals to take care of, but they have a lot of farm animals and the kids loved that!

Here are 2 of the 3 fawns that they had
Here is Rob and Paul trying to feed the fawns, then Rylee & Paul feeding a fawn.

Apple Picking 2010

Every year, a group of us head out to Rob's family's cabin in Harrison to pick apples.  This year, we had the biggest crew we have ever had!  The kids worked really hard picking apples, then decided to rake the leaves into a big pile to jump in!  It was a beautiful day (maybe a little too hot at 82 degrees on Oct 2)!

Paul & Jack sat in the back of Rob's trucking directing people on how to dump the apples into the back!
Rylee busy picking apples, or maybe just climbing a tree!
Miss Averie Barnes looking like a movie star!
The Pierce & Strobel kids in the back of Rob's truck taking a break!
8 out of 9 kids in the pile of leaves!  (the 9th kid was a baby, so she didn't join in the fun of jumping in the leaves!)  Top Row: Rylee, Julia Pierce, Hailey Pierce  Bottom Row: Kole Schnell, Hunter Cluster, Averie Barnes, Jack Pierce, & Paul
 silly faces! :)

Vanderbilt Ranch

We brought a truck load of apples out to the Vanderbilt Ranch again this year. They only had 6 deer. Cute little things! The goats were trying to get into the apples the whole time. Paul fed one of the goats.

Apple Picking

Apple picking was a little different this year. We usually have a big crew out there, but since Rylee had the flu, we decided not to have the big event. So, Rob, Paul, Papa and I headed out there and with the help of Grandpa Bill, wefilled the back of the truck with apples for Uncle Bud.

The Farm

We headed out to my Uncle Bud and Aunt Mary's farm to deliver the truck load of apples. Here is Rylee, Kole and Megan feeding the deer some of the apples. Here's Kole with a deer...he was pretty excited!

They had 7 or 8 fawns, 1 elk, 1 bear
This is after the kids and I were in the deer pen. We didn't get any pictures, but it was pretty neat to go in the pen with the animals. The kids were also excited to pet the goat.
